I'm only 25% Dixie????

I saw this quiz over at Kate's blog and thought it was interesting and that I'd take it. Especially 'cause hers indicated she was 45% Yankee and 5% Dixie. I must say though that I'm surprised I'm not more "Dixie". Though I've mostly lived in the south all my life, I suppose that brief stint in California lost some of my accent when I was a child. Other children, well grown-ups, too! - would ask me where I came from. Obviously my southern drawl was very strong. Ironically, when I came back to Georgia when I was 12, I was still asked where I came from! Except this time, I had a California accent! I didn't realize there WAS a California accent!

Your Linguistic Profile:

60% General American English

25% Dixie

10% Yankee

0% Midwestern

0% Upper Midwestern

Now, someone explain to me this question:

10. What do you call an easy class?

A crip course
A gut
A blow off

I didn't answer it 'cause I've heard of none of those phrases much less used them.

And what is "crull"??????

Yup, I've heard there was a California accent. I grew up most of my life in Southern California, and once my family went to see some relatives in Michigan. My Aunt (from Michigan) told me that I had an accent. She said I was easier on my E's. I hadn't heard anyone say such a thing before, and I haven't heard it since -- until your post today. See how knowledgeable we are??? :)

A cruller is a type of doughnut. It's honey glazed, and has a shape that resembles a tractor tire (big ridges). I'd offer to mail you one, but I haven't seen any around here, and it would be *really* stale by the time it got to you. (Doughnuts should be eaten fresh.)

I wouldn't trust the quiz... I'm Canadian, and it thinks I'm 10% dixie. :P

Pretty interesting considering I've only lived in Georgia and Florida. But then Florida is not really southern, is it?
