The scent of Wisteria and the lure of puddles...

The scent of Wisteria is in the air. Have you ever seen Wisteria? It's a vine, though it can be trained into 'trees' or shrubbery. But it can be invasive which is why you can find it hanging from the trees here in Georgia. But oh, the scent!

I don't have any wisteria myself. However, while walking across the schoolyard to a neighbor/family member's home Thursday, I noticed a dense thicket of wisteria growing! I thought to myself that next time I was by there, I'd stop and get some blooms to take home. Well, today the girls and I walked back through the schoolyard to the wisteria. I was more aware today that it was actually growing on someone's fence, so I decided not to take it from there. However, being a creeping vine, it had already trailed into some trees away from the fence, so the girls and I took our clippers and clipped some from there.

And then, being so close to our neighbor whom we visited the day before, we had to saunter over there for a brief visit. If she happened to look out her door (and I noticed her front door was opened to her glass storm door), and saw us, she might have been disappointed if we had not stopped to visit with her. She's an elderly lady, and I think she enjoyed our visit. She said so anyway. I realize that sometimes the elderly can be very lonely and want visitors, but I'm also aware that I don't want to be intrusive and take up too much of their time. So I'm often caught between two hard places, trying to ease loneliness for another, but not be bothersome. I can only hope that the person will be honest with me if they get tired or need some alone time and will say "It was so nice of you to visit today. I hope you'll come back again real soon!" Ms. Eloise is a family member, a cousin, and her son and daughter-in-law live with her to help care for her. She has a big family between 4 children, their children and her great-grandchildren, so she's always got people around her. She seems to thrive on that, however, so I think our visit (me and 3 children) are not a strain to her. I always wonder, though, when I'm visiting someone ....

Here are the girls during our walk through the old schoolyard. That white house in the background is our destination, Ms. Eloise's home!

Here are the girls picking some wildflowers on the bank in the schoolyard.

They've always been drawn to puddles so it's...

PUDDLE-TIME!

Oh, and not to forget TJ! He had the best seat of all during our walk!

If you can stand to read a little bit more, I wanted to show my basket stand from Herrshner's which finally arrived yesterday, ironically, right after I asked them to cancel the order! I ordered it on February 12th. I cancelled it on April 4th, and I received it on April 7th! I am glad that it is here because I really like it. How 'bout you? I don't even have it as full of yarn as I intend to make it.

Oh, and I bought this little tiered 2-basket two weeks ago (during a time when I was wishing for my 3-tiered basket order). I saw it advertised in a sales flyer for $16.88, so I went to the store to check it out. It's actually made of some heavy metal, maybe a cast-iron? And the baskets are woven tightly and aren't "holey" (for things to fall through). So I bought it! I intended to use it for my threads, so I suppose "holey-ness" wouldn't have been too much of a problem. I've got some of the novelty yarns in there, too! How do you like it? I think I've gone on a basket kick lately...I really like baskets!

If anyone is asking, the photo on the wall is of my grandparents, my dad's parents, soon after they were married back in '45.

I love wisteria too. :)

Nice baskets! I like the concept, but think the yarn would end up too dusty at my place. I'm allergic to dust, but don't clean nearly often enough. :P

Now atleast I know how big those Hershner's baskets are. I've been wondering whether to get the tower myself, but with the cats I just don't know. Great pics of the kids, and the story about your neighbor. I really like your blog.
